As a half brother to Flint (FTCH Troddenmills Beck And Call Of Leacaz); I have enjoyed seeing Todd develop from a pup and he is always a pleasure to work. Todd started his competing during the 2017 trial season which saw some brilliant retrieves in his first novice trials. He was awarded 2nd place (no first awarded) in a Sept. 2017 trial for Barton and Humber Gundog Club and also won 3rd place at the Labrador Club Of Scotland Novice trial. He won out of novice trials in November 2017 following a good run at the I.G.L. Novice trial at Packington Estate. In 2018 he was exceptional at the Chatsworth Retriever Team Event 1st/2nd September as part of the Northumberland and Durham LRC team. Todd was top scorer in the team and helped secure N&D's automatic qualification for the competition in 2019. Todd began his 2018 season in Open Trial's. He performed well in all events during the trialling season when he was placed 3rd and Best Dog on A Runner at Northumberland and Durham Two Day trial in a very strong field. The following week he produced a stunning performance at the I.G.L. Two Day Stake at Glenalmond, Scotland where he was very worthy of his 2nd place.
An exceptional performance at Tyne Tees and Tweed Two Day Qualifier in October and his 3rd place award was very well earned. He enjoyed entering some working tests in 2019 and did well, as can be seen on his awards page, also representing Northumberland and Durham L.R.C. in the local Inter-Club Team Test in July. N & D WON and Todd was Top Scoring Dog Of the Day. |
Todd was exceptional at Yorkshire Gundog Societies Two Day stake 7th and 8th October and I was very proud to WIN with him as this qualifies Todd for his first I.G.L. Championship in December 2019.
Todd then followed this with a back to back win at the NGO Two Day trial at Emblehope & Burngrange Estate - making Todd
A FIELD TRIAL CHAMPION.
After a great run at the 2019 Retriever Championships at Glenalmond, Perthshire over 3 days, against 62 other dogs, he finished the trial with a few other worthy award winners, for which he earned
a Diploma Of Merit. A fine end to the season.
Unfortunately Todd and his owner had to restrict their time in the UK during 2020 due to the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic. This resulted in a missed 2020 UK trialling season.
Todd was back in the UK during August 2021 and I handled him during the trialling season for
Ms. Thelma Blumenthal, his owner.
Todd started the season with great promise; in September he was a good 2nd place at
The Labrador Club of Scotland's 2 day trial at Drummond Estate in Crieff. He then put in a great run at Bristol and West Working Gundog Society's 2 day Open trial, where he was so close to the win, attaining a 2nd place. He continued steadily with awards at several trials proving his consistency and in early November was placed 2nd at the Tyne Tees and Tweed 24 dog Open trial at Yetholm.
This qualified Todd for his second I.G.L. Championships in December 2021.
Todd competed against 51 dogs over the 3 days of the championship and competed all rounds well. Unfortunately he did not make the cut of 9 dogs for the last retrieve, but his owner and I were very proud of his performance.
