Following his multi award winning 2024 season, JED qualified for the 2025 I.G.L. following a great run at North Western Counties Field Trials Association Two Day qualifier 4th October. It was very challenging conditions for dogs and handlers due to the arrival of Storm Amy.
The 2025 IGL Championship featured 60 exceptional dogs, late November 2025 and JED again surpassed himself, finishing a very well deserved SECOND PLACE after he worked in bleaching rain and the coldest conditions I've ever experienced in trialing, on the unforgiving Lauder Estate in Scotland.
I find myself running our of superlatives to describe Jed. His drive, loyalty, wonderful nature and will to excel, is the best I've ever encountered. He makes me proud to be his owner and trainer. To enter the 2024 I.G.L. Retriever Championships with 61 other qualified dogs, and finish with a Diploma of Merit just tops off our season. When considering JED completed approximately 44 straight A/A- retrieves off the belt at the I.G.L., is just amazing. I've had a few great dogs but this little beauty is the BEST by far.
A list of Jed's awards are shown in the attached table which gives an insight to the development of this most talented dog His 2024 season has been truly awesome when in September he began field trial season. After attaining a few awards from September, he got into his stride. Following a great performance at the Dukeries Gundog Club 2 day Open Trial at Emblehope & Burngrange Estate's challenging ground,
As hoped, his consistency continued on the very challenging Drumlanrig Estate's I.G.L. Championship in very cold weather. I was thrilled as JED made it through to the last of the three days, where only 16 dogs had 'survived' from 67 who started. At only 2 and a half years old, I was so proud of his achievements.
His consistency continued as he won a 2nd place in East Midlands Two Day Open Trial in January 2024 - giving him a B qualification for the 2024 IGL Championships. After a good few weeks of no training, I entered Jed in an OPEN working test hosted by GRCN in April 2024 - HE WON! N & D L.R.C. held an Open working test at Allensford, Durham and after a run off JED was placed 2nd. Shortly after he ran a set of technically difficult tests at N & D L.R.C.'s Streatlam Park Open Test - which HE WON. Jed then completed the working test season for 2024 by attaining TOP SCORING DOG of the whole Chatsworth Retriever Club competition as a member of the 1st placed TEAM of Northumberland and Durham L.R.C. 2025/2026 season of trialling began in February gaining a COM . He was awarded 4th place in South West Scotland's Two Day Open trial in September 2025. Not a bad start for the season. |

Only being awarded a COM, I was still thrilled with his performance.

2024 Facts & Figures
This year Lee Hartis and FTCh Kentwone Columbine of Leacaz have smashed all records by not only qualifying with five 2 day Open stake wins but also by doing so back to back. The dog was only two and a half years old when it first qualified for the Championship last year.
The pedigree of this dog includes the 2018 Retriever Champion FTCh Harperrig Breac, its maternal grandsire. Lee also qualified the dog’s sire, FTCh Troddenmills Beck and Call of Leacaz, and the paternal grandsire, FTCh Lowforge Arragon of Leacaz, three times for the Championship.
Previously, there have only been a small number of handlers that have achieved three 2 day Open stakes wins with their dog to qualify for that year’s Championship.
